During the design phase of this innovative product, our goal was to create a fixation tack that would be easy to place in any type of bone and capable of securely immobilizing the membranes currently used in GBR (both resorbable and non-resorbable), as well as meshes.
The TuffTack tack features a 2.5 mm diameter head, a fairly common size for this type of device. The shaft of the tack has a tapered shape, which allows for quick and easy removal.
TuffTack tacks are sold in a non-sterile state.

TuffTack tacks are sold non-sterile in packs of 10. This allows the surgeon to use only the number of tacks needed, sterilizing them on-site as required.

What material are the tacks made of?
The tacks are made using TiGr5 titanium certified to ASTM F136. The ASTM F136 standard specifies that this type of titanium is suitable for the production of medical devices to be implanted in the human body.
Are TuffTack tacks, not being anodized, more or less biocompatible than anodized tacks?
NO! Their level of biocompatibility is exactly the same, since titanium, as soon as it is processed, immediately forms a layer of titanium oxide, which is the element that ensures biocompatibility.
Are TuffTack tacks made with materials and geometries different from Supertack tacks?
NO! TuffTack and Supertack tacksare made with the same material and identical design.
What are the differences between TuffTack and Supertack?
TuffTack tacks are sold non-sterile, while Supertack and Specialist pins are packaged in a clean room after being cleaned with plasma equipment and sold sterile.
Is a wide opening required to remove the tacks?
NO! To remove the tacks, only a very small incision is needed, through which the pins can be slid out.
